 ARE YOU REALLY COVERED?
Home invasions, vandalism and thefts seem to be increasing, possibly, fueled by the increasing drug problem and don't overlook the chance of a fire or natural disasters.  Keeping an accurate and verified record of your personal property along with photos of your contents by a qualified Professional is more important now than ever before.

When insurance companies are looking to replace claimed items, the biggest hurdle is proving that you actually owned the items in question.  Just because you have insurance doesn't mean the Insurance company will just cut you a cheque you still have to prove that you had the items you're claiming.  Digital photos stored somewhere off-site with a verification form created by an Independant Contractor "Professional Photographer" is the best, fastest and safest way to do that..  Some Insurance companies want to see receipts as well but many accept the information and digital photos provided by a third party Professional because they have been verrified.

WHAT IS THE 5 YEAR RULE:

Check to see if your policy has an updated clause requiring you to keep your personal property up-to-date every 5 years.  If you have that clause and don't update your belongings it may take forever to settle a claim.  Insurance companies want this done to remove items you no longer have as well as to add new contents or items you have obtained.

TRY THIS TEST:
Pick a room, close the door and make a list of everything in that room.  You will be surprised how many things you will forget to list.  Now imagine doing this when you are stressed out and exhausted if you were vandalized or had a fire.  Insurance claims are paid on what you can prove belongs to you, how old and in what condition the inventory is in.
Unless you have a photographic memory we, at the UNDERCOVER AGENCY, can help.

WHY DO YOU NEED A HOME INVENTORY?
It's an organized documentation of everything you own, complete with images, identifying info, and proof that you really owned it and how much it's worth.  Not one person in a thousand would remember everything that they have.  If you ever have a claim, Insurance companies want verification that you actually had the items you're claiming.  A photo is an excellent way to prove ownership and establish value.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
It's vital if you want to fill out a police report after a burglary, file an insurance claim after a natural disaster, or take other steps to rebuild your life if something happens.  A recent survey by Allstate,  reveals that 90% of those surveyed think that having a home inventory is important, but only 39% have ever actually made one.

IS IT ALL RIGHT TO USE A CELL PHONE?
Taking photos of your property with a cell phone isn't the best method because cell phones can become lost, stolen, destroyed by water, crash, or become outdated and there goes your proof.  Receipts, model and serial numbers, for example, never get recorded if you use your cell phone.  Cell phone photos do not prove that items belong to you that's why a professional is needed.

WHICH IS BETTER, PHOTOS, VIDEO OR A PAPER LIST?
Insurance companies prefer photos with a complete list.  Videos take way to long to stop and start and to get a good image from the video. Just having a paper list without receipts and documentation has little value.  What if you have a fire and all your receipts and inventory list get destroyed?

HOW CAN AN INVENTORY HELP?
You may be surprised to find that the total value of the inventory of your personal property is far greater than the amount of your policy coverage.  Especially for items like jewelry, antiques or collectables you may need a ryder if the coverage for special items isn't satisfactory or you are just underinsured.
